Oxyanions in their most common state: *MUST MEMORIZE THESE*
-1 charge ClO3- (chlorate) NO3- (nitrate) -2 charge CO32- (carbonate) SO42- (sulfate) CrO42-(cromate) -3 charge PO43-(phosphate) |
Exception to the rule: **must memorize these**
-_Ag+ (silver) always has +1 -_Zn2+ (zinc) always has +2 -_Al3+(aluminum)_ (group A3 always has +3, but because of gallium, which can sometimes have +1, we can’t say all group 13 has +3) -*Sc3+(scandium) almost always as +3 |
The following are "must memorize" ions and oxyanions. Check your answers.
Important ones you have to know: *NH4+ (ammonium) *CN- (cyanide) *C2H3O2- (acetate) *OH- (hydroxide) *methane CH4 is NOT an ion. It has a neutral charge. It is a compound. |
